ARCI IN BICI 2025 is second edition of borderless project that finishes in photography exhibition by students of class 2 SCSv at the Istituto Professionale

Cossar-da Vinci is a vocational secondary school offering several programs. A few years ago, the Gorizia police donated abandoned bicycles found around the city to students in technical programs. The students learned how to repair and maintain these bicycles, which are now owned by the school. These very bicycles were borrowed by students in the Photography class, who explored the city under the guidance of their teachers and an architect. Armed with cameras, they crossed the state border in search of boundless motifs.
The theme of this edition of Arci-in-Bici (the project was first held in 2022 and focused primarily on urban spaces) was nature. Most of the students were exploring the fields of Solkan for the first time, visiting the famous Villa de Nordis, discovering that the Isonzo River originates as the Soča River, and walking across the footbridge over it. They left their bikes at the kayak center and walked along a shady path right next to the water under the road bridge to their destination under the old railway bridge.
The themes of the photographs were: wild nature – cultivated nature, sports photography, and architectural photography. The students were able to learn in practice that the elements that make a good photograph know no boundaries – clouds stretch across the entire sky, reflections of the river are interesting on both sides, the lines of grapevines pay no attention to boundaries, nor do the wind, shadows, and interesting views.
