29. 8.–3. 10. 2025
The official opening of the Mesto knjige 2025 - City of Books 2025 festival happened with the Desperado exhibition by Ivan Volarič Feo.
Ivan Volarič Feo, who knew how to convey the essence in just a few syllables, published the poem La guerre est finie in his cult poetry collection Desperado Tonic Water (published in 1975, half a century ago), which goes like this: when the war is over/ it is only the end of the war. As a farewell to the manifesto, on Friday, August 29, at 7 p.m. in Carinarnica, we opened the Desperado exhibition and ceremoniously established Ivan Volarič Feo Square on the lawn opposite the smallest cultural center in Slovenia, just a few meters away from the venue of the long-running cross-border European performance project Temporary Control at the Internal Border.
The exhibition was prepared by Damijan Kracina and Zdravko Duša with designers Katja Pahor and Saša Nikić, and the opening ceremony was honored with music, words, and a musical selection by Aleš Jošt, Drago Mislej – Mef, Primož Schmidt, Marjanko Uršič, and Vili Raholin.
The curator of the exhibition was Miha Kosovel. Neža Pavšič and Janez Leban are also credited with the realization of the exhibition.
A reprint of the Desperado Tonic Water collection, organized by Lukatelc, was published to accompany the exhibition.
For technical support, we would like to thank KID PiNA from Koper, the Ljudmila Association from Ljubljana, and KUD Zvočni izviri from Nova Gorica, and for archival material, the National and University Library NUK, Radio Študent, Anja Medved, Kinoatelje, and Janez Leban.
