On Saturday, 15 November, as part of the contemporary art practices festival Pixxelpoint, we opened a temporary space in front of the former Customs House on the border – a space for environmental reflection, the humanities, and the industrial history of the Goriška region.
The pop-up exhibition “Krasna si, bistra hči planin in toksinov …” grew out of research, conversations with local people, and encounters with the natural environment around Anhovo. As students of the humanities and the arts, we travelled performatively by train from Anhovo to Nova Gorica, ending our journey at the border – a place where other journeys once ended, and where today a dialogue about the environmental reality that concerns us all begins.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, listened, asked questions, and shared your thoughts. The dialogue has only just begun.
