With our partners Dotart / Exhibit Around APS Exhibit Around APS in collaboration with IN/ARCH Triveneto we organized art residency Dvojno mesto / La città doppia / Double City. Three residents spent a good week here exploring the twin cities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica and their surroundings.

Their aim was to explore and understand the complex reality of communities separated by borders and to offer an indepth look at the current challenges and dynamics that

charcterize these twin cities.

As part of the Double City project, between May 25 and June 2 of 2024, we hosted two promising young photographers from both sides of the border, Nik Erik Neubauer and Paul Montagnon, who were visiting our territory for the first time in such an in-depth way and were able to explore it with fresh eyes and compose their view of cross-border life through a series of photographs.

In addition to them, Estonian artist and writer Tanel Rander, a long-time collaborator of Carinarnica, also participated in the residency. His participation in the Double City residency program was multifaceted. On the one hand, he offered the co-residents a broader context of the theme through his past work in other European twin cities; his task was also to prepare the text for a book entitled Twin City, which will be one of the results of this cross-border project.

The project was presented at City of Books festival and at Trieste Photo Days.

The project was supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia region - Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia as part of the GO! 2025 project and by the Municipality of Nova Gorica as part of the Border Museum project.
