Pakistani architect, researcher, and artist Ishrat Shaheen comes from the Punjab region Lahore, which was divided between India and Pakistan during the bloody partition. This traumatic border experience has led her to take a particular interest in border issues, especially in Europe, where many borders have already fallen. These areas have given rise to interesting cultural projects that reflect the concept of liminality and cross-border life through art. With the financial support of Culture Moves Europe, Ishrat Shaheen spent four weeks in the conurbation of Nova Gorica and Goriza as part of the Border Museum, a pilot project within the Carinarnica.
In her presentation, she presented the insights from our border, as well as other European borders and the Punjab border.
The project is co-funded by Culture Moves Europe and the Municipality of Nova Gorica.
